Meets regularly from mid-August through September.Finance CommitteeThe committee on finance compiles annually a complete budget for the local church and submits it to the church council for review and adoption. Additionally, their goal is to develop and implement plans that will raise sufficient income to meet the budget adopted by the church council. Meets at least quarterly; often monthly.Church CouncilThe church council is the administrative agency of the charge conference to envision, plan, implement, and annually evaluate the ministry of the congregation. Opportunities are open for chairperson, vice-chairperson, and at-large members. Usually meets 4-5 times per year.CheckboxesStewardship TeamCreates and administers annual pledge campaign; works with the finance committee and staff members to create and send quarterly statements and letters; creates and administers fundraising opportunities; promotes tithing and other means of support among our members. Meets 4-5 times per year.Ministry and Mission TeamsProgram Coordination TeamCreates a master calendar for the church year; communicates with chairpersons of ministry teams to ensure regular meetings and attainment of goals; works with staff members to ensure proper publicity for events and program within the church. Meets 4 times per year.Congregational Care TeamStays attentive to needs of congregation members, including births, deaths, sickness, and other significant life events; contacts members that have been absent for extended periods; provides cards, phone calls, and visits where needed; keeps pastor and church staff up-to-date on needs of church members. Meets 4-5 times per year.CheckboxesChildren and Youth MinistryExamine our designated spaces, furniture, and other materials to determine and execute changes needed; search for and execute one-time events for children, including Vacation Bible School, fall festival, and summer camps; search for and provide quality educational materials for Sunday School; work with other churches for mission projects and excursions; search for ways for children and youth to be involved in other aspects of the church, including worship, music ministry, and missions. Meets 4-5 times per year.CheckboxesAltar GuildSets up for and serves communion monthly; ensures that candles are filled regularly; changes paraments seasonally; decorates the church for holidays; removes decorations; polishes brass annually.CheckboxesUshers and GreetersProvides a welcoming presence in the narthex, in the parking lot, and throughout worship; assists in distributing bulletins; assists in collecting offerings; connects with visitors, getting contact information if possible; remove used bulletins, turn off lights, and lock the sanctuary after service. Usual commitment is 1-2 times per month.CheckboxesWitness TeamCreates and administers activities related to evangelism and promotion of our church in our community; promotes positivity among our church members; establishes protocols for follow-ups with visitors. Meets 5-6 times per year.CheckboxesMission and OutreachCreates and administers activities related to mission opportunities in Kinston and around the world, including work with Southeast Elementary School, Project Agape Christmas Boxes, Operation Christmas Child, and conference missions offerings; searches for ways to expand our mission in Kinston and around the world. Meets 4-5 times per year.CheckboxesCommunications TeamWorks with church staff and committee chairs to ensure promotion of events and ministries through Facebook, website, local newspapers and networks; creates promotional materials to be distributed during church and community events; creates promotional materials to be given to visitors and to be placed in local restaurants, motels, and other businesses.
