Eneco East has provided estimates for repair/replacement for the Downstairs cooling unit in the sanctuary. Please read about each option below before placing your vote.

General Considerations: The downstairs unit CAN be replaced WITHOUT removing the upstairs unit! This will decrease our up-front cost, i.e. we don’t have to fix what isn’t broken.

Option A: Replace the Outdoor Unit, Refrigerant Lines, and indoor Coil $24,000.00

This option fixes our current problem, updates our system to new government regulations, and is the most cost effective. As a downside, we would lose some efficiency as the coil was not designed to be retro-fitted into our existing air handler. Comparatively, we would increase efficiency from our current system, and the loss of efficiency compared to Opt. B does not warrant the difference in cost. That is, we would never make up the difference in cost based solely on efficiency difference. Completion date is roughly 1 month from approval.

Option B: Replace the Outdoor Unit, Refrigerant Lines, and Indoor Air Handler: $39,000

This option replaces all portions of the unit from top to bottom, meets the same criteria as Option A, and represents the most efficient system we could attain. As a downside, there is a $15,000 difference in price that will not be returned solely in efficiency. Completion date is roughly 1 month from approval.

Option C: Replace the condenser in the Outdoor Unit: $~3,000.00

This option fixes the current problem, but does not update to new government regulations, and is not warrantied. As per our contract, we aren’t liable for the repair costs or the condenser, but we do pay for the refrigerant. This is the cheapest option; however, it allows for many problems down the road that result in significant maintenance bills. Completion date is roughly 2-3 weeks from approval.
